Front Desk Attendant (part time position)
Position Overview:
The New York School of Interior Design, an accredited, independent institution for higher education devoted entirely to the discipline of interior design and its related professions, has an opening for a part time Front Desk Attendant.
Job Responsibilities:
Monitor the entrance to the school for security and safety and report any suspicious activities
Request presentation of school ID from all students and faculty upon entrance of buildings; validate student ID cards every semester
Request presentation of valid ID from all visitors for entrance to gallery; announce all visitors and guests to appropriate department
Maintain visitor, delivery and pick up log books; notify recipients of package arrivals
Answer school phone system and direct calls to appropriate department
Enforce college policies
Assist students/faculty/staff with needs related to school business; assist with public program lectures and events; assist all departments with minor clerical duties
Monitor the student attendance program for lecture classes in the auditorium; manage collection of class rosters; distribute rosters for the following days scheduled classes
Communicate with the maintenance staff on any maintenance issues or requests; assist with fire drills; maintain cleanliness of the front desk and lobby; occasionally perform daily maintenance of the buildings
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
A pleasant demeanor, reliability and flexibility are key factors to success. Minimum one (1) year previous customer service and security experience required. Experience working with students highly desirable.
Salary: $17.00 per hour
This is an academic year position (Fall and Spring Semesters):
Fridays 3:00pm – 10:00pm
Saturdays and Sundays 10:00am – 8:00pm
