Student Projects on Display at Nantucket by Design

On display at the Whaling Museum starting Thursday, July 30.  Information about hours and tickets to visit can be viewed here.

NYSID is pleased to work with the Nantucket Historical Association again this year to display student projects for the fifth year running as a part of Nantucket by Design to bring modern-day life into NHA historical properties.

Directed by Ellen Fisher, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean, the students develop narratives about their design concepts and as they rethink modern life in various historic properties. The students research the island’s history and culture, and create their vision for you to experience.

This year we are pleased to introduce the students who will present their design projects virtually at the Nantucket Whaling Museum:

  • Graduate Team: Rachel Golland & Kelsey Egan (MFA)

  • Graduate Individual: Hannah Propst  (MFA)

  • Undergrad Team:  Jessica Tucker and Shane Curnutt  (BFA)

  • Undergrad Individual: Nicole Halulakos (BFA)

Each student is connected to a mentor who is a designer that has been part of Nantucket by Design over the years, or is a member of the NYSID community, to guide their development and design.

Thanks to the generosity of the Williams Foundation, each student will receive a monetary award once the completed designs have been submitted.
