Alumni Receive Awards

Two NYSID alumni received awards this past month for their recent outstanding work in the design field. Alumna and NYSID trustee Susan Nagle and her design firm Bentel & Bentel won a 2016 James Beard Award for Outstanding Restaurant Design for their work on “Untitled” restaurant at the new Whitney Museum of American Art.  Light-filled and spacious, the design for “Untitled” was inspired by the four seasons and the creative environment of the Whitney itself.

Also receiving recent accolades was alumna Therese Virserius, who received the Golden A' Design Award at the 2016 A' Design Award & Competition for "Le Campus" at the Hyatt Regency Charles de Gaulle in Montreal; which was recently featured in NYSID's Interior Design Today: Alumni Exhibition. Inspired by the typical American college campus, “Le Campus” features bold colors, texture, and art; and serves as a multifunctional space that is interactive, cool, and playful.
