New York School of Interior Design Announces Chesie Breen as its New Trustee
New York, New York – July 23, 2020 – The New York School of Interior Design is pleased to announce that it has appointed Chesie Breen, principal and founder of NivenBreen, as a member of the College’s Board of Trustees.
“We are pleased that Chesie has made the decision to come on board and provide her expertise and leadership to NYSID,” said NYSID president David Sprouls. “She brings a wealth of knowledge to further advance the College.”
With 25 years of experience, Chesie Breen is a highly valued, go-to resource in the luxury lifestyle, design, media and real estate spaces. A consultant to Jamestown/The Boston Design Center, she creates programming and marketing strategies and is Editor-in-Chief of ID BOSTON magazine, where she is responsible for all content development. Breen has helped build the careers of some of the most respected names in interior design: Bunny Williams, David Kleinberg, Cathy Kincaid, Nina Campbell, Lisa Fine Textiles, Stewart Manger and Amanda Lindroth. She has developed communications strategies for leading brands: QUADRILLE, Leontine Linens, Neiman Marcus, Swarovski, Baccarat, the Interior Arts Building, and Rosewood Hotels & Resorts.
Clients appreciate her wide network of industry access, acumen for content development, and solid relationships with top editors at shelter and lifestyle magazines. Editor-at-Large for Hearst Design Group for ten years and currently a contributing editor at ELLE DÉCOR and PAPER CITY magazines, Breen recognizes what decision makers look for when scrutinizing projects. She’s at the forefront of the changing landscape of digital media and is well-schooled in the new reality of balancing editorial with the matrix of social media, direct-to-consumer marketing, and promotion.
In 2015, Breen joined forces with fashion industry and luxury lifestyle public relations veteran Ellen Niven to form NivenBreen where the two have combined their complimentary expertise and pooled resources into a modern business model servicing a vast array of clients.
Breen is also the founder and chair of Lyford Cay Design Weekend and has chaired events for Nantucket by Design and the Nantucket Historical Association. Committed to advancing the careers of young women, Breen serves as the National Director of the Hockaday Alumnae Association Board.
The Board of Trustees of the New York School of Interior Design has ultimate responsibility for the financial, administrative, and academic affairs of NYSID and the role of a trustee is a vitally important one. Never more so than in these challenging economic times. The Board works closely with the president and senior administration in developing the institution’s near-and long-term goals, setting major policies, and approving curricula and budgets, managing the College’s assets, and spending of the capital funds.
