Position Overview:
The New York School of Interior Design, an accredited, independent institution of higher education devoted entirely to the discipline of interior design and its related professions, seeks an individual to serve as Admissions Counselor. Reporting directly to the Director of Admissions, the Admissions Counselor will assist with recruitment, outreach, portfolio review, counseling and admissions processing. This position will require some overnight travel, throughout the country.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide exceptional admissions customer service to prospective and current students and their families, in person, via email and over the phone; ensure timely responses to inquiries to maintain a high stand of communication
Keep appraised of school programs and offerings to provide best information to prospective students
Schedule information sessions, tours and portfolio reviews for prospective students; lead campus tours as needed
Assist with coordination of and attend all campus recruiting events including but not limited to Open Houses and Orientations; schedule and conduct classroom visits at high schools and community colleges
Participate in the planning and delivery of New Student Orientation, supporting a seamless transition for new students
Review applicant portfolios; attend and review portfolios at National Portfolio Days and other recruitment events
Perform data entry in admissions database, including entry of inquiries, applications, tracking of application documents and admissions decisions for new and returning students, and change of program applicants
Assist in generating admissions letters and other communications, as directed
Provide weekly reports to the Registrar, Bursar and Academic Advisors of recent admits
Create, maintain and update database of high school and community college contacts, including departments and instructors
Periodically review the NYSID website and student portal for admissions updating
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required, BFA preferred. 2 or more years related experience required. Experience in the fine art/interior design field or in admissions for an art or design school a plus. Must possess good communication and customer service skills; must be comfortable speaking in front of groups. Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented and ability to multi-task and manage priorities. Flexibility and willingness to work nights/weekends as required. Must have a valid driver’s license. Competent with Microsoft Office applications. Experience working with Slate a plus.
Salary Range: $42,500 - $45,000 + generous benefits
