Blurred Boundaries: Recent Works by Chinese Artists in New York

  • New York School of Interior Design, NYSID Gallery 161 East 69th Street New York, NY, 10021 United States (map)

The New York School of Interior Design (NYSID) and The Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) is pleased to announce Blurred Boundaries, an exhibition featuring artists from the Chinese art community known for their transnational and cross-cultural practice. For the past few decades, these artists have established and sustained positions in the diverse and dynamic art world of New York City. Their efforts culminate through art that blurs the boundaries between the East and West, and between the past and present. This exhibition is an acknowledgement of their outstanding achievements and contributions, as well as a presentation of their recent development.

This exhibition is curated by NYSID instructor Dr. Zhijian Qian, who is the Assistant Professor of Art History at City Tech College of City University of New York and Visiting Professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Bejing. The featured artists are Zhang Hongtu, Shen Chen, Lin Yan, Wei Jia, Cui Fei and Song Xin.

This exhibition is organized by The Central Academy of Fine Arts and New York School of Interior Design in conjunction with “Fantastic Art China 2018”, an annual event concurring with the Lunar New Year, with Dr. Yu Ding as its chief curator.
