On July 8, high school students from across the country (and around the world!) excitedly entered through the grand double doors of the New York School of Interior Design’s 70th Street campus, ready to experience college-level studies in interior design. There to welcome them inside the Arthur Satz Auditorium stood Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean, Ellen Fisher, as well as pre-college lead instructors Don Kossar, Francisco De Leon, Ana Peñalba Estebanez, and Pam Giolito, ready to provide an introduction to the creative and rewarding world of interior design and to teach students the value of an interior design education.

Students had the opportunity to work alongside other highly motivated and creative students throughout the two-week summer intensive program. In addition to creating long-lasting friendships, students followed a college-level curriculum modeled after NYSID’s undergraduate offerings, visited offices and studios of renowned interior designers, award-winning architects, and top showrooms all over New York City. To conclude the program, students developed a design project for their portfolio for admission to college.
