Ronald McDonald House - Part II

As a next-phase step towards the room they will design and install for the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island a team of NYSID students are hard at work turning drawings and plans into reality. Led by NYSID alumni Brooke Lichtenstein and Yiannos Vrousgos, co-founders of Input Creative Studio, MFA-2 student Bohou Cheng and BFA students Yuan Yuan Ma, Samantha Masone, Mary Thomas, Vince Tong, and Catarine Wright are on the team of this exciting community project.

The team designed the room to be a safe haven for its residents including features such as wood wrap-around, built-in furniture to convey comfort and ease, as seen in the rendering above.  A three dimensional mural gives a sense of whimsy to balance the tension felt by the children and families staying at the house. The team will be hard at work over the coming months finalizing and building the room.

We are very fortunate that Conde Construction is donating all labor and contracting for the room. Additionally, the Ronald McDonald House has set up a page to receive donations for the NYSID room.  Be sure to choose “Students and Alumni Brooke Lichtenstein and Yiannos Vrousgos” on the drop-down menu under "Project Design 2014."
