DIFFA's Dining By Design
Every March in New York, Design Industries Foundation Fighting Aids (DIFFA) shines with the goodwill of more than 40 leading designers and artists who participate in Dining by Design, an event that runs concurrently with the Architectural Digest Home Design Show and raises funds for organizations who fight HIV/AIDS.
This year, NYSID students, supervised by faculty member Rene Estacio, created a stunning dining installation. The table and table settings consisted of smashed tableware that gravitated toward the center of a vortex on the wall. The vortex represented the human population being surrounded by the illness. The student team included Hyemi Kang (MFA-1), Justin Venk (MFA-1), Joseph Vescio (BFA), and Alevtina Vinokur (BFA) along with lighting design by Shawn Anderson. Congrats to the team for showcasing NYSID’s creativity and talent!
