Programs that provide needed credentials 

The undergraduate degree programs combine professional courses, design history, and the liberal arts so that NYSID graduates have the skills and education to meet the demands of this global profession.

The college offers three undergraduate degree programs, the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design (BFA), the Bachelor of Arts in the History of the Interior and the Decorative Arts (BA), and the Associate in Applied Science in Interior Design (AAS). A one-year, nondegree certificate program in Basic Interior Design (BID) is also offered. 

Bachelor of Fine Arts

The  Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program provides students with the professional-level preparation to become practicing interior designers.  In combination with the required professional experience, the curriculum satisfies the educational requirements for membership in national and local interior design associations and allows graduates to sit for the qualifying exams for interior design certification in many states.   

Bachelor of Arts

The BA in the History of the Interior and the Decorative Arts program provides students with an undergraduate liberal arts degree in art history with a special focus on the interior environment and the objects it contains.

Associate in Applied Science

The Associate in Applied Science  degree in interior design is a two year program emphasizing core studies in a range of residential and commercial design studios, technology and graphic communications, courses in architecture and related history, decorative arts, and the liberal arts. 

Basic Interior Design

The Basic Interior Design certificate program provides an introduction to the field of interior design with emphasis on fundamental skills and knowlege in interior design, architecture, and the visual and decorative arts.
