Financial Aid

Financing a NYSID Education

Paying for college can be daunting. There are many decisions to be made:  what you can afford, how to pay, what resources are available to assist you, how much debt is appropriate, and more. We in the Office of Financial Aid are here to help you through what can seem to be a challenging process. There are a variety of ways to finance a NYSID education and we can guide you.

NYSID strives to offer educational opportunities to all qualified students, believing every capable individual deserves the chance to earn a quality college education. With that in mind, we have worked hard to keep our tuition low in comparison to other private colleges and universities in New York. We offer generous scholarships and financial aid opportunities that make NYSID's tuition even more affordable. In addition, there are a variety of federal and state loan and grant programs.

Furthermore, for 2010 more parents and students can use a federal education credit to offset part of the cost of college under the new American Opportunity Credit. Visit www.irs.gov for more information.

All students must apply yearly for financial aid. To be considered for the full range of financial aid available, students should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is available January 1 each year.

The processed results of the FAFSA must be received by NYSID on or before May 1 to meet our priority date. If you are a New York State resident, when you submit the FAFSA you will automatically be prompted to complete the TAP application.

Complete the online FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
Our school code is 013606.

StartHereGetThere.org, a new HESC Web site, offers college and financial aid planning information, informative videos, helpful tips and tools, a step-by-step tutorial for completing the FAFSA, as well as a wealth of information about federal, state ,and college-sponsored aid, including grants, such as New York’s Tuition Assistance Program (TAP), and other scholarships, loans, and work-study programs.
